Minnewanka

Minnewanka

Alkyd on canvas 18″ x 36″ 2013

This was inspired by my wonderful trip out to the Canadian Rockies last summer. Lake Minnewanka is a very deep and mysterious body of water, and part of Banff folklore. During WWII, a dam was created, thus raising the level of the water enough to cover up an old town from the 1800s. A bad storm earlier in 2013 did a lot of damage, and I included a minimal amount of it in this painting (the roof tiles) Can you spot the rainbow trout in the water? Go to the bottom section and see if you can spot it there.
